Locations of the Final 4 teams in the 1B/2B girls soccer State Tournament

4 schools will compete in this year’s final round of 1B/2B girls’ soccer on November 16th & 17th at Sunset Chevrolet Stadium in Sumner Washington.  After almost 3 months of High School soccer, the time has come to name a State Champ.

4 teams from around the state have worked hard throughout the year to earn a spot at the State Tournament,  winning league and District titles, all for the opportunity to call themselves state champs.  The furthest a team will have to travel to compete is Liberty Bell High School. Liberty Bell, located in Winthrop WA, will have to travel 247 miles to get to Sumner. Liberty Bell is coming off a great year, winning the Central Washington 1B/2B League, defeating Manson High school for the District 5/6 Championship, and finishing the season with a 12-4 record.  This is Liberty Bell’s first state appearance since 2009; let’s see if they can make a name for themselves as their first game is against State Tournament veterans Napavine High School.

Napavine High School is making its 4th consecutive State Tournament appearance, making it to the State final 3 years in a row; they are no stranger to big games and exciting moments. Napavine comes into the tournament top of the table for 2B schools in the Evergreen 1A/2B league; also taking the top spot in District 4 to earn their spot at the State Tournament. Expect Napavine to shine, as this may be the year they get that State title they have spent the last 4 years working towards.

Crosspoint Academy is making its second consecutive State Tournament appearance in Sumner, WA. Last year they lost in the semi-final game against eventual state champs Bear Creek, but were able to end on a good note by defeating La Conner in the 3rd place game. This year, they will get a rematch, as their first game is against Bear Creek on November 16th at 2:00pm. Keep an eye out for Crosspoint, as they have the skill and the talent to make a run for that state trophy.

The final team is defending 2011 1B/2B State Champs Bear Creek.  They are coming off another strong year, going undefeated in league winning Sea-Tac 2B, ending the season 12-4, and defeating Orcas Island in the District game to earn that final spot in the State Tournament.   We will see if Bear Creek will be able to defend its title, if not, we will be naming a new 2012 1B/2B State Champ.
